ReapMoneyOnline's comment policy.

ReapMoneyOnline is a DoFollow blog. We believe in rewarding readers who interact with the blog authors or with each other. RMO has installed the following WordPress plugins to remove the NoFollow tag from comment authors and for them to benefit fully from their comments:

1. NoFollow Free by Michelle.

We have been using NoFollow Free for a nearly a year and it’s one of the most hassle-free way to remove “nofollow” tags. It also comes with it’s own top commentators/commenters widget. The author requests that whoever uses it help spread the word.

2. CommentLuv plugin by FiddyP.

This is one of our favorite WordPress plugin. CommentLuv retrieves the latest post of the commenter if the URL placed on the comment form is a blog and parses it with his/her comment. Coupled with NoFollow Free, this plugin automatically creates an outbound link to the post that can be followed by bots, an SEO technique called deep linking.

3. KeywordLuv by Scratch99.

RMO tries its best to reply to comments ASAP. It will be nicer to reply to a name than to keywords used as anchor text so we installed KeywordLuv. With this plugin in place, comment authors can now use both a name AND anchor text in the name field of the comment form, simply enter “yourname@yourkeywords.” Placing RMO@make money online in the field returns RMO from make money online in the comment form.

ReapMoneyOnline’s comment system rewards comment authors with two (2) DoFollow links back to their blogs: (1) a link to the home page (or anywhere in their blog) with their chosen anchor text and (2) a deep-link to their latest post via CommentLuv.

Being a DoFollow blog has two (2) disadvantages: (1) RMO holds PR like a basket holds water and (2) It has become a target for spammers, like all DoFollow blogs in the make-money-online niche. To minimize PR leakage and spams, RMO will implement the following comment policy:

  1. RMO does not manually moderate comments. We totally rely on Akismet to classify what is spam and what is not. Akismet places what it cannot immediately identify as spam in the moderation queu.
  2. Do not place a link within the comment itself. KeywordLuv and CommentLuv will do the linkng. We are being deluged with comment spam and Akismet has been holding for moderation legitimate comments with links in them. Please understand that RMO’s queu has 35 to 40 long spams in it daily. Any legitimate comment can get lost in between.
  3. RMO will only accept comment URLs from other blogs. Make a blog or leave the website field blank.
  4. Comments must be relevant to the topic or discussion. Anyway, we should not comment on anything that we know nothing about.
  5. Comments with links going to what Google perceives as bad neighborhood will be deleted.

ReapMoneyOnline appreciates most of the comments made by our readers and remains steadfast in supporting our friends.

  1. Thanks for using the Keywordluv plugin. I really hope that more bloggers start to use this plugin. It is a great way to continue to build the blogging community.

    Hi Fred! :D

We’re afraid the NoFollow policy of google will discourage some to be both DoFollow and use the KeywordLuv plugin. It’s useless if the nofollow tags are in place. However, if are already DoFollow, we have nothing to lose if we install the plugin.

We do hope more commenters will take advantage of it. It’s difficult replying to a keyword. :D

  3. I just love this plugin and Comment Luv. It’s such a great way to further engage the blogging community to read more blogs!

We’re not so fortunate with Akismet. :( It holds the spam for moderation, even the ones with explicit pornographic keywords and sometimes include legit comments.

  6. But what if we don’t want to actually put our real names? Is that still okay?

No problem. Closing off the web with nofollow to spite those who game the system probably isn’t Google’s wisest move.

  12. Keyword Luv is to Blogs as icing is to cake! Most people don’t contribute to blogs simply because they must register, wait for a confirmation e-mail to activate, then log-in, etc. and at the end of the day get nothing back for the effort. Rich anchor text in a backlink will motivate more commentary and help the blogger build subscribers and growing content from all the commentary. Everybody wins. Sad that Google support the no-follow movement IMHO.

  16. Well, your poicy is clear (and thanks for helping out in links like this, btw, I do the same at my blog), but I noticed that nearly all of the link on your page (including those in the article) are nofollow.
Is there a minimum number of comments one must have to be nofollow or did the plugin got desactivated after some WP upgrade?

    Kind regards,

    Olivier.

    @ EJ

It was Google who started the NoFollow movement. It’s a non-standard HTML tag peculiar to its bots. :) It’s sad that script developers like WordPress made it default. :(

    @ Jim Spence

You must be a bit disappointed. We have to article on the top free web host yet. :)

    @ Karen

No problem. Policies differ according to sites and authors. These policies will only be implemented here at RMO.

    @ Olivier

Sorry for the NoFollows in the comment. We were experiencing issues with our original webhost and has recently transferred. There’s been incompatibilities with out theme, plugins, databases and the current server settings. We hope we have fixed most of the kinks and every plugin is now back to normal.

As for the NoFollows in the content area, they were put on intentionally and we also have the NoFollow Reciprocity plugin. We were working hard to get our PR up and yet RMO still slipped the past update. We need to plug some holes and most of these sites are NoFollow too.

The DoFollow movement is commonly translated as one involving the comment area.

    Thank you all!

  19. I see. And apparently all the links have become dofollow again in the comment section.
I never really took care of my outbound links to increase my PR. All I need are some decent ranking for some keywords, and although PR helps, it is not the determining factor. Anchor text and a lot of backlinks are far more important.

  20. 3. KeywordLuv by Scratch99. This is cool as you tell your name to blog owner along with a keyword. Really making life easy for bloggers and esp commentators.

  21. admin says:

    @ Olivier

We hope RMO’s KeywordLuv is helping out. :D

    @ Latif

We thought RMO is already NoFolow, why not add some icing on the cake. Akismet has been eating up comments with links/keywrods in them.

    Thanks.

  22. Troy says:

Myself I’m really glad for these 2 plugins, both of which I use on my site as well. I think it’s hard enough trying to build and get backlinks and google is making it tougher and tougher for the small blogger to compete.

I think with already pretty good spam protection in wordpress and by setting things on moderation you can protect yoursel pretty well..

I think the idea of nofollow sends a message

Hey you scratch my back I’ll scratch yours

  23. I agree, why Wordpress made it the default is beyond me. In any case, it is what it is.

KeywordLuv is the best plugin out there, I love finding new KWL sites to browse and comment on too!

  24. admin says:

Google seems to have suggested the NoFollow to popular blog platforms and other scripts.

Although, it shouldn’t have been made the default but an option or a plugin.

  25. Please explain about how dofollow blogs don’t hold PR… Do they bleed pagerank because they have so many outgoing links

  27. @ Kermit number 26: Yes they do. If your page has PR and you link to too many blogs with a dofollow plugin or in a contextual link, you are bleeding PR.

Lucias last blog post..Dominican Republic A Top Nation for Business

  28. admin says:

    @ Kermit

Just like what Lucia said, too many outbounds from a webpage shares the PR of that page with others. But with the NoFollow tag on, google bots won’t follow the link and, therefore, it is not counted as a vote for the linked-to site.

    @ Simon

It’s supposed to be w win-win situation but Google seems intent on enforcing the NoFollow tag since our PR plunged down to zero and we’ve been following the webmasters guidelines except for the NoFollow.

    @ Lucia

    Thanks for the assist. :)

  29. KeywordLuv is great. As opposed to forcing people to hide their keywording in your comments.
