Earn some bucks by twittering.

A while back, we’ve finally caved in and created a twitter account for one of our online endeavors. That’s how we learned of an ad company based in the U.K. that offers cash in exchange for allowing them to insert some sponsored tweets among ours, Be-A-Magpie.

We will let this image do most of the explaining of how their system works.

    Had to happen eventually!

At least the links are already nofollowed, so there’ll be no retribution from Google on this one.

I’m wondering how to monetize Twitter. I’m sure as time goes by, plenty of people will come up with some ingenious ideas.

As a quick comment, I make it a general rule not to follow anyone that uses Magpie and to stop following people once they start. I don’t want ads in the twitter stream that I read.

I know more and more people are adopting this approach, so think carefully about whether you want to drive away followers by using Magpie.

For me, I’m more interested in using Twitter to build community as well as readership of my blog.

Have been hearing about MagPie system a lot. Is that the reason I see so many ‘follow’ requests? These guys probably think 10% people will follow them back and they can get better payouts from Magpie.

I follow very few trusted people and won’t really mind if they suggest checking out something on twitter. But using it for actual ‘random’ adverts doesn’t go well with me.

Because you have no control over what is tweeted only control the frequency of the MagPie tweets, this can hurt your reputation for your twitter account. There are other CPC sponsorship programs you can use to make money with twitter, I made about $4.00 with 4 tweets from SocialSpark.

I think twitter is pretty good way to advertise something until we’ll exploit the source and overuse it. Concept of following and followers is pretty good and more solid than other means of advertising.
